An attack by two Palestinian terrorists against the morning prayer service at the “Kehilat Yaakov” synagogue in Jerusalem’s predominantly ultra-Orthodox (haredi) Har Nof neighborhood resulted in the death of six people, including the terrorists who were shot by police. At least eight other people were wounded in the attack, some seriously. Police raided the homes of the two attackers, reportedly arresting nine family members. Reactions to the attack were swift, with celebrations being held in many Arab areas of Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza Strip as the Islamist terror militias Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad praised the attack without taking responsibility for it. But the US State Department led a chorus of international condemnation for the attacks, including by PA President Mahmoud Abbas, and Israeli leaders promised a harsh response. Read More

UPDATE: Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as well as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, have condemned an attack that left four worshippers dead, as well as two assailants, presumed to be Palestinian men, who were armed with axes and knives. Israeli police have identified the dead as three American citizens and a Briton, and all were immigrants to Israel and held dual citizenship.
