Wags and wiggles on this fine and frigid December 5, 2013 day! Brrr…it’s cold up here in the White Rock/Los Alamos, NM area. So cold, in fact, that a fellow White Rocker reports a RACOON in her bedroom!! It MUST be cold if the wild critters are moving inside. Also, one of my mom’s church lady friends reports that the roads between Los Alamos and Santa Fe are terrible!!! Stay home if you can, but if you can’t here is where you can check road information: in NM dial 511 or visit nmroads.com.
There isn’t a whole lot of fluffy white stuff up at my house, but I convinced my mom to let me take a photo. She argued that I don’t have the right kind of thumbs (that would be those “opposable” thumbs that you humans have…the only fancy thing I have is a couple of dew claws) to hold a camera. BUT….I won out and here is MY shot of the dusting we have on our back patio:
Despite the lack of snow action in my neighborhood, the East Mountains (east of Albuquerque) had enough to snow to cancel schools for the day! Yay…think of all the kids home to play with their pets. (NOTE: if you have outside pets, let them in today and make sure they are toasty warm in these frigid temps). I got several photos from some of my friends who have houses in the East Mountains. I have the bestest non-fur friends EVER! This shot is from Marita Noon . . . she has dogs, but they wouldn’t go outside for a snowy glamor shot. I think pictures are always better with canine models, but this is a great snow shot anyway. (I’m glad Miss Marita has thumbs so her patio photo is not crooked like mine!).
Gaylene Walker took some great photos. I want to go play in her back yard and jump on that fence.
Melanie Meis actually put her boots on SPECIAL to get me all sorts of shots. She didn’t disappoint . . . . well, except there is a kitty cat in this one. He (or is it a she) looks kinda scary, but a a zoomy game of chase might be fun in the snow (as long as I am the one doing the chasing). Heyyyy….just noticed that the kitty has markings similar to me! Surely, SURELY we are NOT related!!!
Last, but not least, here is my favorite . . . a photo of my friend Sara Stanton’s dog, Marlee, sitting in front of the fire. That’s the bestest place EVER to be on a cold, snowy day!!
Meanwhile in Orlando, FL, it’s sunny and 84! Thanks for sharing your photo of azaleas, Sue Moyer!!
One last bit of weather information . . . a friend who USED to live in the East Mountains, Tammy Boyd, reports a dramatic drop in temperatures where she lives north of Dallas, Texas (McKinney): 78 degrees yesterday to 37 today! Brrr! I guess New Mexico isn’t the only place that feels like the inside of a refrigerator!!!
Wags and out…this is Kramer the Weather Dog reporting from the cold and snowy Jemez Mountains of Northern New Mexico. Thanks to all my weather chick friends from all over the country!!
