Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry says he supports the the proposal to end late term abortion in the City. The Mayor issued a statement released by his campaign saying, “If advocates for any issue meet the criteria of the City Charter, they have earned the right to send the issue to the voters.”
The Mayor, a Republican, also stated, “While the constitutionality and enforaceability of this initiative if passed by the voters will be up to a judge not the mayor or city council, personally I am opposed to late term abortion and will vote accordingly if the City Council puts it on the ballot.”
We praise God for Leaders like Mayor Berry that will stand up and speak out for the sanctity of life! Amen!
Pete Dinelli, a Democrat who is running for Mayor says, he strongly opposes the abortion proposal. Dinelli says the “topic” should remain a private matter between a woman and her doctor, family and religion.
Paul Heh, Republican and retired Police Sargent who is also running for Mayor, strongly supports the measure, calling abortion after 20 weeks, “simply barbaric”
We also thank Mr. Heh for his stance!
Nearly 30,000 petition signatures have been gathered to get this issue on the City ballot in October to end late term abortion in Albuquerque, which has become known as the late term abortion Capitol of the World. The City Clerk;s office is still determining whether enough signatures are valid. 12,091 are needed.
Let us continue to pray for the passage of this City ordinance to end the murder of babies. in Jesus name Amen!
