The American Bible Society released its annual State of the Bible report, Tuesday, which asked the question: Is the Bible losing its influence in America?
Among the key findings: 77 percent of those surveyed believe values and morals in the United States are declining. One-third of them say its because Americans don’t read the Bible enough.
The survey also revealed a gap between beliefs and actions. For instance, 66 percent say they believe the Bible has everything a person needs to live a meaningful life.
But 58 percent say they don’t want the wisdom and advice the Bible has to offer. Meanwhile, 57 percent say they read the Scripture fewer than five times a year.
