North Korea

As the Korean Peninsula heats up with elevated war rhetoric from the communist North, a recent report from Open Doors ranks North Korea as the most hostile country to Christians. Open Doors, an NRB Member ministry dedicated to aiding persecuted Christians worldwide, notes in its annual World Watch List that North Korea “is vehemently opposed to religion of any kind” and “Christians are classified as hostile and face arrest, detention, torture, even public execution.” However, Open Doors estimates an underground church movement of 400,000 Christians in North Korea.
