Gosnell

The family of a woman who died at a Philadelphia abortion clinic is testifying at the trial of the doctor accused of killing her.

Karnamaya Mongar, 41, fled war-torn Bhutan in 2009. She died after seeking an abortion at the clinic run by Dr. Kermit Gosnell.

Gosnell is also charged with killing seven babies born alive at his clinic.

Mongar’s daughter testified through a translator about the labor-inducing drugs and pain-killers her mother received while waiting for Gosnell to arrive to perform her late night second-trimester abortion.

Prosecutors believe Gosnell’s untrained and unlicensed staff gave her a lethal combination of drugs and failed to properly monitor her.

She died at a hospital the next day. The woman’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Gosnell.
