A Morning Cup of Hope by Angel L. Murchison
Are you committed to the truth Grandma?
There’s nothing that can move your emotions faster from laughter to tears than the love we have for our children and grandchildren.
I laugh often when I remember one morning going to my daughter and son-in-laws home to care for my two grandchildren, Mason and Evan. Little did I know how that Saturday would stay with me for days to come.
Busy, busy is the only way to describe what happens in a home with an almost four year old and a baby crawling faster than the eyes and legs can move from one child to the next. This particular Saturday, Mason and I decided we would paint some rocks. Evan in his walker and Mason giving him a little push now and then keeping him amused, we began to paint some clear rocks. I soon noticed some water on the floor near the stairway. When inquiring of Mason what had happened, he indicated Evan had spit. Wow I replied that’s a lot of spit. I went to clean it up knowing it was something else. I began to talk to him about being committed to truth. Even when we mess up and make a mistake, we admit our mistake, and have a new beginning and try once again. I inquired of him if he may have had an accident and together we could clean it up. He admitted he had and I took the spray bottle of cleaner and he the mop and we cleaned the mess. The hardwood floor shined once again as I talked to him about being committed to the truth. We continued to paint our rocks and I spilled some paint on the floor. When I stood up I toppled the water that cleaned our paint brushes. Mason piped up Gram are youcommitted to the truth? and I said I was. He replied I will help you clean it up. He went for the mop once again, I for the paper towels and spray cleaner. Together we cleaned the mess Gram had made. What a lesson for us all. As we journey life, we make mistakes, make a wrong choice or a bad decision and we need help cleaning up the mess. I am so thankful for Jesus Christ that he does just that. As a Christian I try hard to do the right thing, to make right decisions and to stay on the path called narrow and straight. Sometimes I mess up and I can go to a loving, heavenly Father and say can you help me clean up my mess? knowing he will help me. His love for me is beyond my comprehension. His love for you is the very same. He died for us when we were yet sinners. I am so thankful he walks with me each day and I pray he walks with you. The goodness of God leads man to repentance. When we mess up and that we do, he is as close as the next breath to whisper his name for help.
The clear rocks all painted beautiful colors and the hardwood floor shines bright again. Just like you and I, our sins washed clean as we continue on the journey.
What are you in need of this day? Don’t hold back because of a wrong choice, a mistake. Today is your new beginning. Let the Lord cleanse you afresh and let your light shine brightly once again. Your redeemer paid the price, he is your rock. Scarlet red is the color; the precious blood of Christ paid it all…
I will care for my grandchildren this weekend as their parents have a short get away…I ponder what lessons are in store.
Psalm 51: 10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.
Lord, I come to you in the most powerful name I know, Jesus. He makes all things beautiful in his time. I pray for the next generation(s). Father I pray America will heed the voice of the Lord. It seems that there are messes everywhere. We know you are the answer. We know you desire to walk closely with mankind. You desire to clean up the messes of our lives. I pray Father that people around this globe will be committed to the truth of your word. No excuses, no reasoning’s or explanations, just old fashion repentance. A word we hardly hear anymore. Lord I pray you mold us and shape us that we may be useable in the kingdom of God.
Father I pray for my grandchildren and grandchildren all across this globe today. Lord may they grow up in a society that teaches them righteousness. That honesty, integrity and their character would be their greatest assets. Lord as they strive to find their way in the journey called life; they would choose the high road. Making decisions based on the word of God for their daily lives. We plead the precious blood of Jesus over their lives today. We the older generation (yikes) build a hedge of prayer around them today oh God. Lord I join my faith with Dewey, Sharon and all the prayer warriors around this globe that we will lead the way by example.
Lord clean up any messes we have made I pray, and let today be a new beginning for everyone across this land. America the beautiful…….the reason you died….We give you thanks……..
