Several fires continue to burn in New Mexico.
The Silver Fire burning in southern New Mexico has grown to more than 22-thousand acres.
Fire crews say dry, hot and windy weather caused the fire to spread.
The flames continue to threaten the small, nearby town of Kingston though crews are working to created defensible space around the town.
The Silver Fire is 5 percent contained.
It’s a different story in Northern New Mexico.
Weather conditions in the Pecos Wilderness have helped fire crews battle the Jaroso Fire. Cloud cover and humidity from the recent rain storms have helped firefighting efforts.
The fire has burned more than 22,500 acres near Truchas.
There is zero containment of the fire, but crews say the weather has kept it from spreading.
Lightning sparked the fire about a week ago.
Officials say ground crews and air support have slowed the Whites Peak Fire burning north of Las Vegas.
Crews were able to create new containment lines putting the containment at 15 percent.
Lightning also sparked this fire last week.
The fire has burned more than 1,100 acres so far.
The two wildfires sparked by downed power lines in northern New Mexico are even closer to being 100-percent contained.
Firefighters have slowed the spread of the Thompson Ridge and Tres Lagunas fires.
The Tres Lagunas Fire is 90 percent contained.
The fire has scorched more than 10,000 acres north of Pecos, meanwhile, fire crews are mopping up the Thompson Ridge fire in the Valles Caldera.
The fire burned nearly 24,000 acres.
It’s 80-percent contained.
The state’s newest fire – the Seboyeta Fire – is 100 percent contained. The fire burned six acres about 25 miles northeast of Grants.
