MAGDALENA, N.M. (KRQE) – Magdalena’s water crisis is getting some new help from two older underground water sources.
The Magdalena marshal’s office says the city is now pumping the high school’s well water into the city’s main system.
That went online Monday.
Another older small well that was shut down years ago should come back online Wednesday, after getting a new chlorination system and an okay from the state.
The Magdalena marshal says that will give the city about 70,000 gallons of water a day, which is the average demand.
Crews are still working to drill a full scale “back-up well.”
