Pray and Believe

Written by: Angel Murchison

After church one Wednesday evening a friend approached me and asked for prayer for a family that needed a vehicle. Apparently there had been an accident recently, in which a mother perished leaving behind her five children. The oldest daughter was 19, married with a small child of her own. She was now going to be the care giver for her siblings. Apparently the father of the children was a bit estranged living several states away.

I began to pray for this family a vehicle. On Sunday I was delivering a meal to an elderly friend and I saw a seven passenger white van parked at the end of a drive way with a big “For Sale” sign on the windshield a few houses away. My heart began to pound as I drove by. Something was saying this was the vehicle you have been praying for. I phoned the woman that asked me to pray and we went to look at the vehicle the next day. The gentleman didn’t seem to have a specific price in mind so we sat and prayed in the van as the man went to discuss with his wife how much they wanted. He said he recently replaced the motor, alternator and a few other things I don’t remember as I was so excited. I felt like we were on a mission from God. I just remember praying “Lord this family is going to need to trust you for so much more in the days ahead than just a vehicle. I thank you for a vehicle for them and Lord if this is it I pray this couple would give it to us as I don’t even have a dollar in my wallet to give them in Jesus name I pray” Amen. Just then I heard the man on his four wheeler coming down the hill. He came to the passenger door and asked my friend to get the papers out of the dash. Then he walked over to me and said “We’re going to give you this vehicle”. My heart was really pounding with excitement now as this was truly a God thing. I had never met this man or his wife before and here they are giving us their van. We walked up the hill to their house for my friend to call the family for the correct spelling of their names for the title on their new vehicle. I knew the Lord would bless this couple for giving away this vehicle. I drove the van to my home as my friend followed driving my older Ford escort. My teen girls washed, vacuumed and cleaned the upholstery making it shine inside and out. My oldest daughter bought new mats and an air freshener for it. The family came to pick it up shortly after and I wasn’t home. I never met them, couldn’t tell you their names or what they looked like, but the blessing was all mine. As I watched my three girls working diligently getting it ready for this family showed me what was in their heart; kindness, compassion and sacrifice. This big white van was an answer to prayer and a blessing to us all.

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24 NKJV
