A grandmother in China is being hailed as a hero after making the ultimate sacrifice to save her baby granddaughter’s life. According to national broadcaster CCTV, the two were in a building that was crushed by a landslide during torrential rains in Sichuan province. Pan Guofen protected the 15-month-old child by kneeling on all fours, forming an arch over the baby to protect her against a fallen concrete slab. Miraculously, rescue workers found the child alive and well, despite having spent seven hours buried under the rubble. Her grandmother, however, had died from head injuries. [Source]
