Tell The Mourner’s to leave your home

steven“TELL THE MOURNER’S TO LEAVE YOUR HOME”

By Stephen Young of Stephen’s Gate

Mark 5:38-40: When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw much commotion and weeping and wailing. 39 He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.” 40 The crowd laughed at him. But he made them all leave, and he took the girl’s father and mother and his three disciples into the room where the girl was lying.

This week, I’ve decided to write my devotion from one of my sermon points from this past Sunday night. A few weeks ago I wrote a devotion entitled “It’s Not Dead”, and on Sunday night I developed a sermon around it. As I began to read this passage in Mark, some things jumped out at me. I encourage you to go back a few weeks and read the Stephen’s Gate I wrote, “It’s Not Dead”, (Archives are at the bottom of the page) as well as listen to the sermon I preached on, Celebration Center’s website
so that you get the whole picture.

As I was studying this passage I learned that back during the time of when this occurred there were professional mourners who would attend the funeral of a person. It did not matter how poor or how rich the person was, the mourners would show up. There would, however, be more if the person was from a prominent family. In this passage it turns out that the mourners showed up before the news even got to Jairus that his daughter was dead.

What I want you to do is relate Jairus’s daughter to your dream and the mourners to the enemy. Many times the enemy creeps in to declare your dream dead when it’s not. Jesus kind of rebuked the mourners here by telling them to leave because she wasn’t dead, she was only asleep. The minute I read that the Lord spoke to me and said “Tell the mourners to leave your home!” The word to you this week is, don’t allow the enemy to speak death to your dreams and your future. You need to tell the mourners to leave your home, they aren’t welcome there! Your dream isn’t dead, it may be asleep but it isn’t dead. All it’s going to take is for the Lord to breathe life back into your dream.

I believe we are in the season of dreams being fulfilled and it’s no time to give up because the enemy has sent in the mourners to declare death to your dreams. It’s a season to push through like you never have before, stand in authority over the enemy and tell the mourners to leave your home and not to return!
