Archbishop Michael Sheehan, does not favor the gay marriages taking place in New Mexico. Sheehan said marriage is, quote, “the oldest institution of humanity. It goes back to Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” He acknowledges gays and lesbians in the Catholic Church, but does not think it’s right to marry them.
