The VA backlog is an Injustice to Veterans

veteransDo a quick Google search and you will find numerous examples of the backlog that our Veterans face when dealing with Veterans Disability Claims.  The VA itself is not unaware of this problem.  Instead, they have dedicated words, time and money to trying to fix the problem itself.  Nevertheless, the injustice continues.

The brave men and women who have sacrificed were willing to give everything as their duty to our nation.  They were willing to protect us, we should now be willing to protect them.  Yet that is not happening in today’s VA.  The VA has stated it’s goal is to eliminate backlog by 2015.  A very ambitious goal, especially in light of the mounting claims before the VA.  So now, we have the Secretary of Veterans Affairs claiming that there will be no backlogged claim of more than 125 days.  The big question is, however, does that mean just new cases?  What about those cases that have ben languishing in the system for years on end.  The injustice continues.  There is hope, however.  Changes in the regulations on how PTSD cases are treated have attributed to some relief for some veterans.  The easing of the requirements for PTSD claims is one way that our veterans are seeing more justice.  The fight, however, is not over.  As long as one veteran languishes in the abyss of VA disability claims the injustice will continue.  For further information on some of the changes occurring read this interesting article:  https://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20130719/OPINION01/307190001/Shinseki-Bold-VA-backlog-goal-drew-fire-dollars?nclick_check=1
