Obama: We Can Reach Agreement With Iran

Netanyahu: Don’t Trust Rouhani’s Smile

In the shadow of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s phone conversation with US President Barack Obama, the leader of Israel is sending a very different message, in anticipation of his upcoming meeting with Obama in the White House. Warning his American counterpart to beware of Rouhani’s smile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that he is unimpressed by Rouhani’s seemingly moderate overtures to the West. David Rubin, political analyst and author of “Peace for Peace: Israel in the New Middle East”, is referring to Rouhani as “just another Islamic wolf in sheep’s clothing”. Says Rubin, “The Iranian nuclear problem is centrifuging full speed ahead, and, despite his moderate tone, Rouhani is just another in a very long line of deceptive leaders in the Islamic world. At least with Ahmadinejad, we knew what we were getting.”

Some suggested talking points:

1. What was the content of the phone conversation between Rouhani and Obama, the first between Iranian and American leaders in several decades?

2. Since Rouhani is considered a moderate, why is Prime Minister Netanyahu so skeptical??

3. Shouldn’t we try to make peace with our enemies?

4. Has Obama actually told Israel not to attack Iran?

5. We often hear Netanyahu talk about the importance of strengthening the sanctions on Iran. Can sanctions work?

6. How then can the Iranian nuclear program be stopped?

7. Rouhani says that his country has a right to have a peaceful nuclear energy program. Do you agree?

8. What results can we expect from the Obama-Netanyahu meeting?

Bio: David Rubin is a former mayor of Shiloh, Israel—in the region of Samaria, known to most of the world as the West Bank. He is the founder and president of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund (SICF) —dedicated to healing the trauma of children who have been victims of terrorist attacks, as well as rebuilding the biblical heartland of Israel. SICF was established after Rubin and his three-year-old son were wounded in a vicious terrorist attack while driving home from Jerusalem. Rubin vowed to retaliate—not with hatred, nor with anger, but with compassion—in order to affect positive change for Israel and its children.

Rubin is the author of three books, including his newest, Peace for Peace: Israel in the New Middle East, which clearly explains the reasons why the peace process has always failed and presents a realistic new peace plan based on biblical principles, historical precedent, and common sense. He is also the author of The Islamic Tsunami: Israel and America in the Age of Obama, which boldly exposes the Islamic threat to Israel, America and Judeo-Christian civilization.

A featured speaker throughout North America and in Israel, David Rubin is a frequent guest commentator on national and international radio and television programs and a regular Op-Ed contributor on Israel National News, The Jerusalem Post, Charisma Magazine, and other publications.
