The following is an excerpt from Barbara Gould’s
book, “Greater Glory”
In Romans 6:5 Paul tells us that if we have become one with Him (Jesus) by sharing a death like His, we shall also be one with Him in sharing His resurrection [by a new life lived in God].
Paul continues in Romans 6:6-7 (Amplified: “We know now that our old [unrenewed] self was nailed to the cross with Him in order that [our] body [which is the instrument] of sin might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be slaves of sin. For when a man dies, he is freed (loosed, delivered) from [the power of sin [among men].”
God is talking to us here. He has done a complete work on our behalf. Even as we use our faith to obtain the blessings of the Father, so we must begin to use our faith to live like the new creations we are in Him.
Not only has our Father restored us to our former state, but in Christ He has made a way for us to live and conduct ourselves as new creations. “Faithful is He who called you and He also will bring it to pass.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24 NASB)
