walt longmirematt dillonI am still getting calls and emails saying, “Hey! We just saw you on Longmire!” I just laugh, and give all Glory to God! I shared about this experience a bit when I preached this past Sunday. All of Longmire episodes on on the internet. My 15 seconds of fame LOL LOL! is in Episode 12, season 2 at about 15 minutes into the show when Walt says, “Do you want to go to a funeral?”

I believe that God gives us the desires of our heart as long as we walk with Him. I did not have this on my day planner. I have wanted to be in a western for years! My favorite all time show is Gunsmoke. James Arness played Matt Dillon. In that series there was violence, you break the law you go to jail, humor, moral to the story and Matt’s justice. I see all of these factors in Longmire with Robert Taylor as Sheriff Walt Longmire.  I am finding that many Christians watch Longmire. Why is that? I believe Justice, and the fact that Walt is old school, he bucks the modern day way of doing things. He will practice law, at times,  the way he thinks it should be done as did Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke did. I believe we, the American Public like that, where common sense prevails, empathy is present. All these factors made Gunsmoke a hit for ever, it still plays on TV and Longmire is of the same.

I told the folks at Longmire that the series is right in line with a modern day Gunsmoke.

I also believe that God had me on Longmire to witness. People asked me many questions about what does a Pastor do? What does it mean to be a Pastor?  It was so exciting! It was a wonderful experience and all the folks were so nice to me. Robert Taylor dropped me a nice note a couple weeks after the show. He so reminds me of James Arness, a big fella, with a big heart.

You never know when God is going to call you out! He may be calling you today!

Longmire fans have been waiting for this:

A&E has reportedly decided to go with a third season of the break out hit Longmire, according to the show’s executive producer John Coveny.
Coveny, as reported by Deadline, tweeted the good news of Longmire’s renewal on Twitter. “Thanks to the 5 million plus weekly fans (live+7). Young and older skewing alike! The call just came: SEASON 3 for #Longmire is a GO!”

Although A&E and Warner BrosTV have yet to officially announce the pick-up, recent rating highs suggest that a third season is in the cards for the show. Longmire’s season 2 finale managed to pull in 4.4 million total viewers. Season 2 averaged 3.7 million viewers between the 18-49 demographic, as well as 25-54. Official word on the show’s renewal should be on the way.

‘Longmire’ follows the titular character, Sheriff Walt Longmire, who returns to patrol Absaroka County in Nebraska after the passing of his wife. The show is an adaptation of Craig Johnson’s book of the same name. The A&E drama stars Robert Taylor (The Matrix) as the sheriff, Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba), Bailey Chase (Saving Grace), Cassidy Freeman (Smallville) and Adam Bartley (Be Strong).
