Phil, the father on “Duck Dynasty” TV series, likes to brighten things up by repeatedly saying of his present mood, “I am happy, happy, happy.” The rest of his family automatically smiles or laughs. In the Sermon on the Mount message Jesus preached, He used the word “blessed.” Being blessed is being made happy because of good circumstances or being well spoken of. But the deeper and more sustained joyfulness of being blessed is beyond this world. It has to do with having and immensely enjoying God’s kingdom in your heart.
Matthew 5:3 (AMP) “Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous-with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the poor in spirit (the humble, who rate themselves insignificant), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!” Ras Robinson
