Is God calling you? Have you answered?

october appreciationDear Family of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Charles Spurgeon – The Prince of Preachers
“Oh, for that godliness which will strengthen you to quit your situation, to lose your wealth, to sacrifice your credit, and to part with your friends sooner than grieve your Lord!”
Today we are going to take a time out from our study of the Holy Spirit, and Lord Willing continue on Monday!
First let me share this with you………This is a wonderful message from my Dear friend Stephen Young out of Maine. Stephen and his lovely wife Kristen have become awesome friends of FGGAM! Keep them in your prayers they are moving to Georgia at the end of the month and Kristen has been having some health challenges. These folks are moving without jobs! BUT they know the Lord is moving them to Georgia for a great work.  When I read this, God showed me once again why he called me to form FGGAM, Sharon and I can so identify with Stephen and Kristen! God pulled me out of KKIM with no pay check! It is a walk of faith, WOW! Have I learned a lot in the last year! PRAISE GOD! Sharon and I have grown ever so closer to our Lord. Our marriage is much stronger, it was strong but this new walk has made it stronger!  Be encouraged as you read Stephen’s words…….God may be calling you out!
STEPHEN’S GATE
By Stephen Young
WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME?”
Ex 14:13-16: But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.  The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”  Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.”
This week I want to draw your attention to verse 15 of the passage above. I don’t know about you but I will admit I’ve read verses 13 and 14 several times, I’ve posted it on Facebook and I believe even written a Stephen’s Gate around those verses. What’s never caught my attention until I heard someone mention it was verse 15.
In this passage Moses was trying to give a pep talk and God was saying, “I’ve already given you the direction and told you what to do, why are you looking at me, get moving!” Now, I’m not saying you can’t cry out to God for help, I’m not saying that He won’t fight for you, those things are fine. What I’m saying is there comes a time when we’ve been given all the direction we need to fight the fight and defeat the enemy and we’re still standing around looking at God for the answer when God may be saying, “Why are you looking at me? Get moving!”
Stepping out in faith isn’t always an easy thing to do. Even if you have all the answers and you know every step, the unknown can be scary. There are times to stand still and there are times to move. Standing still when it’s time to move will get you run over. You may need to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself to get moving. It may be time for you to pick up your staff and raise your hand over your sea and walk through on dry ground.
Again, don’t take offense if you’re standing still looking to God to fight for you. That may be exactly what you’re supposed to be doing and He will fight for you. But, if you’ve been given all the direction to move onto your next step and you’re still looking to God for Him to do something, He may be saying, “Why are you looking at Me? Get moving!”

We thank Stephen and Kristen for their love!

First of all, why do I call this column I do from time to time, Small Town and Working Class Views?
It is because I grew up in a wonderful small town like Mayberry, NC! LOL! Windom, Minnesota gave me a strong foundation not only in family, but also Jesus and hard work, the kind of work where you get dirt under you finger nails and sweat running down your face! Good physical labor.
The kind of Town where everybody cares about everybody.
When I go out into the rural areas of America……the people as a whole are in touch with God and His land.
You and I must not be influenced by those in the media that do not know Jesus Christ, we must stay focused on the Lord. We must not pay attention to the “Nothing noise” of the world. This morning I turned on the TV, which I normally do not, I regret I did so, my Spirit became disturbed by the news reports and the way it was being reported. This past week I have gotten a lot thrown at me, words and actions that have tried to get me distracted from the mission God gave me. When God gives you a mission and people around you to help you, you go through a brick wall to get it done. As Christians we know that God has called us to fulfill the Great Commission, be Salt and Light, bring His message to the world.
As I listened to the news reporters this morning, I heard the lack of a foundation in most,  both Biblical and Journalism ethics. Many, not all, of these reporters are growing up in the industry without  training from the Bible and good old fashion Journalism courses.  Substance is lacking.
I am a product of good old fashion news reporting, nearly 36 years of it, started at the Minnesota State News Network in 1978.
Substance is lacking…….yes in our Politicians also. These folks are doing more harm than good to this Country. Most anyhow.
The answer is Jesus Christ, many of these Politicians who claim to know Jesus, need…….I think to get to know Him and His ways a bit better.
Mark Twain once said something like this, The only difference between a Republican and Democrat is the spelling. Amen to that, it is being proved over and over!
I am an Independent. I think both parties are crazy, they have lost their way.
I am not a Green party guy, nor a Tea party guy, not a Republican or Democrat……I am a Jesus guy.
If I was given an opportunity to speak before Congress and the President, I would teach from The Bible and use the John Maxwell leadership Bible to preach and teach.
This problem we have in Washington is going to continue, it is worse than gridlock, until these folks give their whole life to Jesus Christ.
After yesterdays news…..The Mother being shot dead in her car, has anybody asked if they really had to shoot her?……….. Then I see Pastor Paul Holt’s post on our website about the motorcycle gang attacking a car and beating a man in broad daylight in America!
Last night in Albuquerque, NM where we are based, motorcycles are racing at high rate of speed on a main road, called Paseo, and one motorcycle crashes into the back of a truck and the passenger on the cycle, a women, is killed.
America is tense…….it is losing it’s balance, or has…….the solution is Jesus Christ, I know that is to simple for some these days.
Hey! FGGAM made the Windom Newspaper! This is what Dave Fjeld wrote this week! https://windomnews.com/
Stories that need to be shared
Dave Fjeld
Writer

From time to time, I share stories that have appeared in Dewey’s Daily Cup, a daily e-mail blog that former Windom resident and current pastor, Dewey Moede, sends out each day.
It’s filled with scripture, encouragement, random thoughts. submissions from his readers and, of course, messages that God has moved Dewey to share with readers.
In Monday’s Cup, Dewey shared a couple of stories that gave me goose bumps when I reached the end of the second one. These stories are ones I just couldn’t let pass by without sharing them with you.
As different as these two stories are, they tie together in the end. So, please read them to the end; they are definitely worth the few minutes it will take to read them.
Enjoy!
‘Easy Eddie’
Many years ago, Al Capone virtually owned Chicago. Capone wasn’t famous for anything heroic. In fact, he was notorious for enmeshing the Windy City in everything from bootlegged booze and prostitution to murder.
Capone had a lawyer nicknamed “Easy Eddie.” He was Capone’s lawyer for a good reason. Eddie was very good! In fact, Eddie’s skill at legal maneuvering kept Big Al out of jail for a long time.
To show his appreciation, Capone paid him very well. Not only was the money big, but Eddie got special dividends as well. For instance, he and his family occupied a fenced-in mansion with live-in help and all of the conveniences of the day. The estate was so large that it filled an entire Chicago City block.
Eddie lived the high life of the Chicago mob and gave little consideration to the atrocity that went on around him.
However, Eddie did have one soft spot. He had a son that he loved dearly. Eddie saw to it that his young son had clothes, cars and a good education. Nothing was withheld. Price was no object.
And, despite his involvement with organized crime, Eddie even tried to teach him right from wrong. Eddie wanted his son to be a better man than he was.
Yet, with all his wealth and influence, there were two things he couldn’t give his son; he couldn’t pass on a good name or a good example.
One day, Easy Eddie reached a difficult decision. Easy Eddie wanted to rectify wrongs he had done.
He decided he would go to the authorities and tell the truth about Al “Scarface” Capone, clean up his tarnished name and offer his son some semblance of integrity. To do this, he would have to testify against The Mob and he knew that the cost would be great. Still, he testified.
Within the year, Easy Eddie’s life ended in a blaze of gunfire on a lonely Chicago Street. But in his eyes, he had given his son the greatest gift he had to offer, at the greatest price he could ever pay.
Police removed from his pockets a rosary, a crucifix, a religious medallion and a poem clipped from a magazine.
The poem read: “The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.”
A World War II hero
World War II produced many heroes. One such man was Lieutenant Commander Butch O’Hare.
He was a fighter pilot assigned to the aircraft carrier Lexington in the South Pacific.
One day his entire squadron was sent on a mission. After he was airborne, he looked at his fuel gauge and realized that someone had forgotten to top off his fuel tank. He would not have enough fuel to complete his mission and get back to his ship.
His flight leader told him to return to the carrier. Reluctantly, he dropped out of formation and headed back to the fleet.
As he was returning to the mother ship, he saw something that turned his blood cold – a squadron of Japanese aircraft speeding its way toward the American fleet.
The American fighters were gone on a sortie and the fleet was all but defenseless. He couldn’t reach his squadron and bring them back in time to save the fleet. Nor could he warn the fleet of the approaching danger.
There was only one thing to do. He must somehow divert them from the fleet. Laying aside all thoughts of personal safety, he dove into the formation of Japanese planes. Wing-mounted 50 caliber guns blazed as he charged in, attacking one surprised enemy plane and then another. Butch wove in and out of the now broken formation and fired at as many planes as possible until all his ammunition was finally spent.
Undaunted, he continued the assault. He dove at the planes, trying to clip a wing or tail in hopes of damaging as many enemy planes as possible, rendering them unfit to fly.
Finally, the exasperated Japanese squadron took off in another direction.
Deeply relieved, Butch O’Hare and his tattered fighter limped back to the carrier.
Upon arrival, he reported in and related the events surrounding his return. The film from the gun-camera mounted on his plane told the tale. It showed the extent of Butch’s daring attempt to protect his fleet. He had, in fact, destroyed five enemy aircraft.
This took place on Feb. 20, 1942, and for that action Butch became the Navy’s first Ace of World Ware II and the first Naval Aviator to win the Congressional Medal of Honor.
A year later Butch was killed in aerial combat at the age of 29. His hometown would not allow the memory of this WWII hero to fade, and today, O’Hare Airport in Chicago is named in tribute to the courage of this great man.
The next time you find yourself at O’Hare International, give some thought to visiting Butch’s memorial, which displays his statue and Medal of Honor. It’s located between Terminals 1 and 2.
The connection
Maybe you’ve already heard these stories before or already have figured out the connection between these stories.
If you haven’t, here it is . . .
Butch O’Hare was “Easy Eddie’s” son.
Yes, this is a true story. Wow! Hope these stories made your day. It made mine.
