A biker involved in Sunday’s road rage incident is paralyzed and in a coma after he was struck by the black Range Rover involved in the shocking episode.

The driver, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, reportedly collided with one of the bikers on the highway, sparking a rage-fueled episode that quickly got out of control.

The bikers, apparently furious about the collision, went after the driver of the SUV and reportedly started to slash his tires. Lien, who had his wife and young child in the car, “barreled through three of the bikers to get away,” CBS Boston reports.

However, the bikers continued to pursue the driver. They eventually caught up to him, smashed his window, pulled him from the car and beat him in front of his wife and child. Video of the incident has gone viral and has sparked a contentious debate over whether the dad was wrong or just trying to protect his family.

Edwin Mieses’ wife, Dayana, told local CBS affiliate WBZ-TV the driver of the SUV, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, should be punished for what he did.

“This man needs to know he hurt someone,” she said. “That man paralyzed my husband. He needs to pay for what he did.”

Stunning footage uploaded to YouTube Sunday showed Lien plowing into a group of bikers after they allegedly started damaging the driver’s vehicle following an accident. The video shows the bikers pursuing Lien after he struck the bikers.

Police said they will not file charges against Lien.

On Tuesday, Mieses’ family reacted to the news that Lien would face no charges.

“It’s not going to bring my son’s legs back because he won’t walk again,” said Santiago. “But justice has to be served with this gentleman who did this to my son.”

Police have filed a litany charges against one of the bikers, Christopher Cruz, 28.
