From the Albuquerque Police: The subject who shot APD Officers and a BCSO Deputy has been identified as 35-year-old Christopher Chase, depicted in this photo.
Chase was pronounced deceased on scene.
Two of the injured officers remain hospitalized, both recovering from surgery. The BCSO Deputy is recovering in ICU. One APD Officer has been released and is recovering at home with his family.
One additional APD Officer was discovered injured by the shooter yesterday. This third injured APD Officer was treated at a local hospital for the injury cause by bullet fragments. He first realized he was injured after he discovered a bullet hole through his pant leg in the aftermath of the shooting.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the officers and their families as we search for answers following this senseless tragedy.
We ask that if anyone in the community has any recordings of yesterday’s events or discovers any property damage related to yesterday’s shootings that they call APD directly at (505)242-COPS (2677).
Thank you to everyone for your support and prayers.
