The Huffington Post reported the news this way: A man set himself on fire on the National Mall in the nation’s capital as passers-by rushed over to help douse the flames, officials and witnesses said Friday afternoon. (Update at 12:20pm Saturday: The man has died, let us be in prayer)
The reason for the self-immolation was not immediately clear and the man’s identity was not disclosed. But it occurred in public view, on a central national gathering place, in a city still rattled by a mass shooting last month and a high-speed car chase outside the U.S. Capitol on Thursday that ended with a woman being shot dead by police.
The man on the Mall suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the hospital, said District of Columbia fire department spokesman Tim Wilson.
Let us pray.

Shame on America, on us for treating our Military like this! Looks like we are a third world country. Is this what America has come to?
I am ashamed.
In the last few weeks we have had the Navy Yard shootings, the women who was shot and killed driving her car wildly around Capitol Hill with her baby inside, being shot to death even thou she had no gun. Whatever happened with shooting the tires out? And now the man setting himself on fire.
I call this Spiritual unrest in our country, look at all that is happening in our Nations Capitol, the move away from God, the move away from serving people and watching these elected officials serving themselves first. (Not all but most) It’s called greed.
Washington D.C. is at the forefront of this Spiritual battle, and it is not a Republican or Democrat, nor Tea Party issue, it is a God issue.
I know this solution is too simple for many, but until our so called leaders and Country turn to God, we as a Country are going to struggle mightily.
But, I encourage you with all my heart to look at the darkness that is happening in our Nations Capitol, Navy Yard shootings, women being shot to death with baby in car, man setting himself on fire, Military grocery stores with no food, darkness has set in on Washington D.C. and Satan is very happy.
Not to promote or advertise Pastor, but I do note that ‘Sam’s Club’ has opened their doors to the military during the shutdown. Military members, their families & retirees are welcome at Sam’s open door policy and only need to show their military ID for entry and purchase. While I do realize there is marketing involved, (they’ll hopefully gain members from this effort prior to the govt reopening), it’s exceptional they haven’t made it a requirement nor offered membership at lower rates. Simply, SHOW YOUR ID and YOU’RE WELCOME. We went last night and were treated with total RESPECT & appreciation !!!
