As many as you know here at FGGAM we just love dogs! We have seen several reports now that dogs and cats are getting sick from jerky treats! PLEASE BE CAREFUL! The FDA is issuing an alert and investigating chicken, duck and sweet potato jerky, after dogs and cats all over the country have been sickened. We are seeing reports in New Mexico and across the United States from vets saying they’ve seen more animals sick from the products recently.
The FDA has not been able to point at a specific brand as the culprit.
Since 2007 more than 3,600 dogs and 10 cats have been affected, and 580 dogs have died from the jerky treats.
Pets are vomiting, having diarrhea, not wanting to eat and even experiencing kidney failure.
Vets suggest not feeding your animals jerky treats right now. They suggest regular dog food as a snack.
