What “Faith” is that?

Listening to a message this Sunday, based on Micah 2, the pastor raised up a tear from the Albuquerque Journal newspaper, that a BIG BOLD TITLE, “WE ARE FAITH LEADERS”!

Then just under in smaller lettering, but still quite BOLD, was a statement from these “faith” leaders endorsing homosexual “marriage”.

I cried out loud , “NO!!”

What “faith” to they represent??  After service I looked closely and all names of the signers were in VERY small print hard to read. Coming home I could easily find the ad and enlarge to read every name, 125 in total, “faith” leaders of New Mexico, from Albuquerque to Taos, Farmington down to Carlsbad.  Many had the distinguishing title of “Rev.”  or they were a shaman or a dharma teacher or buddhist.

Faith!

Faith in what?  What is a belief that the Word of God is a lie, not relevant to the ever changing morals of today?  How different were they in Sodom and Gomorrah?  Solomon wrote, maybe 4000 years ago, that there was nothing new under the sun!! Indeed there is not, that is why homosexuality and same sex attraction was written about thousands of years ago and deemed a sin, an abomination!  BUT today in 2013 New Mexico some “leaders” would advertise their disdain for the Truth of God and say, hey, why not, they “love” each other and we want to show them dignity and respect.

I have thought that Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of those things not seen as written in Hebrews 11, two thousand years ago.  Perhaps there is another meaning of the word as it stands in this endorsement.  Just pondering “faith”, as it is defined as allegiance, strong belief, trust, fidelity, a system of religious beliefs, baffles me that 125 people quite diverse in thought and schooling could come together with this one issue as they “lead” others.

To me, they are leading , but not in a way to honor God , who is the same yesterday, today and forever, unchanging as His Word and they besmirch the holiness and commitment to live life pleasing to Him.

When this institution, sacrament is altered by man in a permissive society, it is a mockery of the real and the substitution becomes a lie.   I would leave you with the words from Galatians 6, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”    This everlasting life is so much more important than any other issue and when a true relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ is pursued there will be no appeasement or compromise on morality!

Personally I have great compassion on the lost, deceived, hurting, my life for the past 22 years has been focused on reaching them. I will continue to stand for the sanctity of true holy marriage, one man and one woman.
