Dear Family of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond what you are.
Cherie Carter-Scott
I just love that quote of truth! Relationships are destroyed by anger. Anger sends shrapnel into hearts, souls and minds. Into the walls of homes, churches and businesses. Anger just plain destroy’s in many cases. I thank our friend George from “down under” Australia for sending this!
I once battled an anger problem years ago, yes I did, God healed me from anger!!! PRAISE GOD! I know first hand the damage anger does to the one spewing it out and to those it hits. When God healed me, I then went to see or called everyone that I hurt to seek forgiveness, I was forgiven, there were some that I could never reach, but I have prayed for and received forgiveness. Amen!

How are you this day??? Stand Strong in our Lord! Hearing from a lot of folks having challenges this week! Oh My! Everything from health to financial.
Do not be shaken by events or people around you: Acts 2:25 (NLT) “King David said this: ‘I see that the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”

This morning when I awoke to start work, the internet was down. It should me how vulnerable we are, how we take things for granted! The Internet has become our number one communication tool, has it not?

My phone was not able to connect to the internet also. Comcast said they were having a “major event”

But we are up and running now. Praise God!
Let us this day return to our study of the Holy Spirit!

Who is the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer today?

The Holy Spirit is the Promise of our Heavenly Father to each one of us!

In Luke 24, we find a very specific command given by Jesus right before he ascends to heaven:

Jesus said to them: “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning me….Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued (or clothed) with power from on high.”
And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, While He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Luke 24: 44-53.

In this very short and simple message to His followers, Jesus gave them the key to living a victorious life as He demonstrated on earth! “behold, I send the Promise of My father upon you.”

That Promise—–as we know from John 14-15, Acts 1, and other passages in the New Testament—-was and is the Holy Spirit! The Promise of Jesus Christ to His disciples at the time of His ascension is the same Promise given by Jesus to those of us who are followers or disciples of Jesus Christ today! Amen!

Jesus has made available to every believer the work and power of the Holy Spirit. Every believer receives that promise, regardless of denomination, cultural background, race, color, or age!

Many people seem to think that the Holy Spirit has only been poured out on those who are preachers, teachers, missionaries, or some other type of full-time Christian worker. NOT SO! The anointing power of the Holy Spirit has been given to businessman, mothers, students, janitors, plumbers, used car salesman, secretaries, congressman and women…..people of all walks of life. AMEN!

God has made the Holy Spirit available to you! Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?

How to Make a Success of the Christian Life
by Evangelist Billy Sunday
Now that you are a child of God your growth depends upon yourself.
It is impossible for you to become a useful Christian unless you are willing to do the things which are absolutely essential to your spiritual growth. To this end the following suggestions will be found to be of vital importance:
1. STUDY THE BIBLE: Set aside at least fifteen minutes a day for Bible Study. Let God talk to you fifteen minutes a day through His Word. Talk to God fifteen minutes a day in prayer. Talk for God fifteen minutes a day.
“As new-born babes desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby.” – I Peter 2:2.
The word of God is food for the soul.
Commit to memory one verse of Scripture each day. Join a Bible class. (Psa. 119:11)
2. PRAY MUCH: Praying is talking to God. Talk to Him about everything — your perplexities, joys, sorrows, sins, mistakes, friends, enemies.
“Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Phil 4:6.
3. WIN SOMEONE FOR CHRIST: For spiritual growth you need not only food (Bible study) but exercise. Work for Christ. The only work Christ ever set for Christians is to win others.
“Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15.
“When I say unto the wicked, thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.” – Ezek. 3:18.
4. SHUN EVIL COMPANIONS: Avoid bad people, bad books, bad thoughts. Read the First Psalm.
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness, and what communion hath light with darkness – what part hath he that believeth with an infidel – wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord.” – II Corinthians 6:14-17.
Try to win the wicked for God, but do not choose them for your companions.
5. JOIN SOME CHURCH: Be faithful in your attendance at the Sabbath and mid-week services.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is.” – Heb. 10:25.
Co-operate with your pastor. God has appointed the pastor to be a shepherd over the church and you should give him due reverence and seek to assist him in his plans for the welfare of the church.
6. GIVE TO THE SUPPORT OF THE LORD’S WORK: Give as the Lord hath prospered you. – I Cor. 16:2.
“Give not grudgingly or of necessity, fo God loveth a cheerful giver.” – I Cor. 9:7.
7. DO NOT BECOME DISCOURAGED: Expect temptations, discouragement and persecution; the Christian life is warfare. “Yea and all who will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” – II Tim. 3:12.
The eternal God is thy refuge. We have the promises that all things, even strange and hard unaccountable obstacles, work together for our good. Many of God’s brightest saints were once as weak as you are, passed through dark tunnels and the hottest fire, and yet their lives were enriched by their experiences, and the world made better because of their having lived in it.
Read often the following passages of Scripture: Romans 8:18; James 1:12; I Corinthians 10:13.
Thanks again Darlene!
