The DISNEYS, what a legacy!
It is with sadness today that I report the passing of Diane Disney Miller, daughter of the famous Walt Disney himself and offer my prayers to her family. Diane Disney Miller died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her home in Northern California.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mrs. Miller and my thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time. Beloved daughter of Walt Disney, she was one of his inspirations for creating Disneyland and was heavily involved in ‘The Walt Disney Company’.
The ‘Disney’ dynasty provided such moral, inspirational and downright wholesome entertainment, it brought families together each week and her efforts in this endeavor were tremendous!
Diane was an inspiration in the world of entertainment back in the days when TV was far more wholesome than today and provided entertainment for the entire family.
Diane was born in 1933 and was the eldest daughter of Walt & Lillian Bounds Disney. She married to Ron Miller in 1954, who later became CEO of the Walt Disney Company, a position he held until 1984. The cause of her death is being reported as complications from a fall.
Miller’s younger sister, Sharon, died of cancer in 1993. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, as well as seven children and 13 grandchildren.
I can so fondly recall, back in the days of ‘one TV’ homes where you were maybe able to receive up to two, sometimes three different channels; having the entire family sitting in the living room watching ‘The Wonderful World Of Disney’. Many a family in those days upgraded their black and white TV’s to color due to the magical world her father presented in blistering color every Sunday evening. Popcorn and such was prepared in advance as ‘no-one’ wanted to leave until the shows completion. Church in the morning and Disney at night became the norm for many an American family back then.
Diane Disney Miller heavily influenced the entire ‘Disney’ entertainment world for decades and her passing is a sad loss.
