In the Spirit of a True Christmas, we here at FGGAM are going to start a new program wherein we will Adopt a family each year for Christmas. While we offer our prayers for all in need at all times, we are not large enough to help everyone, but as Pastor Dewey always says, one heart, one soul, or even a whole family, at a time. We ask anyone who may have it in their heart to try to help please read the letter below. We apologize for the short notice on this initiative this year but it’s not too late to help provide this wonderful family with a Christmas they can remember and an excellent start to 2014.
We are adopting Jennifer, and the giving we pray will go on through 2014! We are working directly with Rebecca Shuman at AAA Participant Direction. While there is an address in Las Cruces provided below for direct donation drops we know many of you are not located in that area. Rebecca has provided all her contact information below and I’m sure a generous monetary donation would be greatly appreciated with which needed items could be purchased to help provide this lovely lady and her children a Merry Christmas. Rebecca has provided us with the following letter concerning Jennifer and her family:
Jennifer is a single mom with three young sons, Johnny, age 15; Christopher, age 9; Brian, age 7. They live in a remote community with limited resources, Chaparral, New Mexico. Being a poor single mom is hard enough, but it is even harder for Jennifer because she has a disability. She has a movement disorder and is gradually losing physical functioning. She uses a wheelchair. Jennifer’s strength is her faith.
Jennifer and her family fortunately have a decent home to live in. However, her rent is $400 per month, half of her income. She will hopefully get more affordable housing in the future. Jennifer is part of a program that provides her with daily caregiving services. She gives thanks every day for this program because it makes it possible for her to be a mom and provide a home for her sons. She prays to God every day to bless the people who help her.
Jennifer needs your help to have a Merry and Joyful Christmas for herself and her sons!
You can help make their Christmas bright by giving them a gift from Jennifer’s wish list. Gifts can be new or gently used items. Their greatest need is for clothes and furniture, though gifts of toys, books and entertainment will bring much joy for the boys.
