Jerusalemites awakened Thursday morning to a heavy snowfall which continued into the early afternoon, highlighting difficult weather conditions in many parts of Israel which closed schools and businesses, caused numerous traffic accidents and flooding in some areas. The level of the Sea of Galilee went up over a centimeter to 211.38 meters below sea level – 2.58m. from full capacity, as heavy snowfall was reported on the Golan Heights and Upper Galilee. Strong winds were also reported in several places, causing property damage and some injuries.
