CHRISTMAS: A TIME TO REFLECT AND BE THANKFUL

Merry Christmas!  I, first of all, want to thank Pastor Dewey for asking me to write on today’s Daily Cup.  My wife and I truly appreciate Dewey and For God’s Glory Alone Ministries.

It’s hard to believe another Christmas is upon us.  My grandfather always told me that the older you get, the faster time goes by.  I’d have to say I agree with him.  It’s seems like in today’s society time goes quicker every day.  However, I’m thankful and can testify to the fact that no matter how quickly time goes by, no matter how things change, God never changes.  Malachi 3:6 says: “I am the Lord, and I do not change.” As I reflect on this year I look at all the changes that have taken place in our lives.  For Kristen and I and our family we moved from Maine to Georgia, that alone is a big change.  Learning to adapt to a new area and to a new neighborhood.  Meeting new people, attending a new church, starting a new job, and beginning a whole new life.  This is the first Christmas either of us has spent without our families being close by.  Throughout all of the new things in our life and the changes that have taken place our testimony is truly that the Lord is faithful, His love never changes, His faithfulness never changes, His promises never change, and His word never returns void, (Isaiah 55:11).  He truly is the same yesterday, today, and forever, (Hebrews 13:8).

As you spend time today with your family and you reflect on 2013 as we approach the New Year, I encourage you to see the faithfulness of God in everything that has taken place in your life.  I can guarantee you, life is still going to go by quickly and things in today’s world will continue to change at a rapid pace.  However, hold onto the One who doesn’t change, the One who remains constant no matter where life leads us.  He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever and His promises to you will never return void!  Merry Christmas, may you reflect on God’s goodness today and be thankful!
