The Russian ship MV Akademik Shokalskiy, which has been stuck since Christmas Eve. The expedition is being led by Chris Turney, “climate scientist”, who has “set up a carbon refining company called Carbonscape which has developed technology to fix carbon from the atmosphere and make a host of green bi-products, helping reduce greenhouse gas levels.” The purpose of the expedition is “to discover and communicate the environmental changes taking place in the south.”
The Akademik Shokalskiy, carrying 74 global warming scientists, got stuck Tuesday after a blizzard’s whipping winds pushed the sea ice around the ship, freezing it in place. The scientific team on board the research ship left New Zealand on Nov. 28. Keep in mind it is summer in Antarctica.
Three icebreakers, including the Snow Dragon, have been trying to reach the ship since Wednesday. France’s L’Astrolabe made it to the edge of the sea ice surrounding the ship on Saturday, but called off its mission after it, too, failed to break through, said Lisa Martin, spokeswoman for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, which is coordinating the rescue.
Global warming alarmists have been claiming for some time that ice levels have dropped dramatically at the polar caps and have had to change their language to accommodate the fallacy of their theories as ice levels have suddenly increased unexpectedly. The increase in ice levels is now being blamed on climate change.
It comes as no surprise that most of the news coverage on the Akdemik Shokalskiy being stuck in the ice fails to mention the mission of the team or what type of scientist are on board.
The irony is not lost on those of us at FGGAM.
