windy weatherThe National Weather Service in Albuquerque reports: Significant changes are on the way for the Land of Enchantment. A strong upper level jet stream will position itself over Northern and Central New Mexico the next two days. Stronger winds will mix to the surface, resulting in strong to very windy conditions developing along the east slopes of the central mountains and adjacent highlands Thursday and Friday. Areas of blowing dust very possibly will cause reduction in visibilities around 1 mile. Windy conditions are expected to be more widespread Friday.Temperatures will dramatically increase Thursday with the warm downslope winds, with near record highs possible in the southeast plains. Thursday’s highs will be well above normal, but temperatures will cool Friday and through the weekend, reaching below normal highs by Sunday.Precipitation will also slowly expand across northern and northwest New Mexico beginning early Thursday morning. Snow levels will be high initially before becoming more widespread above 7500 feet. The best accumulation period will be Thursday night into Friday morning. Additional showers may develop over the weekend over Northern New Mexico.
