Good Morning & God Bless To Everyone !!!
Today is January 6, the 6th day of 2014 and there are 359 days left this year where it is another blessed day in the work for our Lord here at:
For God’s Glory Alone Ministries !!!
We are so very fortunate here in Albuquerque enjoying another beautiful day here in Albuquerque where it is presently 13 degrees outside although a breeze does have the windchill down to 4 degrees. Can’t complain as I watch The Weather Channel tell me about folks who will be waking up to sub-zero temperatures before considering the windchill and temps are not expected to break zero today while we’re expecting highs in the high 30’s to low 40’s. My bones are twitching just at the thought! I can remember days back in the Navy standing watch outside on the bridge of the ship in the North Atlantic with 70/80 knot winds in your face and freezing sea water blowing in your face for hours on end and think about all the folks going through this almost historic cold wave. (I’ll leave out any sarcastic comments about global warming this morning !!!) We urge all to be extremely careful if you must be out and about; these are obviously very dangerous conditions.
So very many prayers to put out today it’s too long a list for this posting but I ask all to put your prayers to God today. Maybe, as it always is, it would just a good day to go out and share Jesus with someone who doesn’t have Him in their hearts today!
So, What Happened Today In 1975:
Phuoc Binh, Capital of Phuoc Long Province falls to the North Vietnamese
Phuoc Binh, the capital of Phuoc Long Province, about 60 miles north of Saigon, falls to the North Vietnamese. Phuoc Binh was the first provincial capital taken by the communists since the fall of Quang Tri on May 1, 1972.
Two days later, the North Vietnamese took the last of the South Vietnamese positions in the region, gaining control of the entire province. The South Vietnamese Air Force lost 20 planes defending the province. Presidents Nixon & Ford had promised South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu that the United States would come to the aid of South Vietnam if the North Vietnamese launched a major offensive in violation of the Paris Peace Accords. However, the United States did nothing when Phuoc Binh fell to the communists. In fact, the passive response of the United States convinced North Vietnam that the Americans would not soon return to Vietnam & encouraged the Politburo in Hanoi to launch a new attack in the hopes of creating ripe conditions for a general uprising in South Vietnam by 1976.
When the North Vietnamese launched the new offensive in early 1975, the South Vietnamese forces, demoralized by the failure of the United States to come to their aid, were defeated in just 55 days. North Vietnamese tanks crashed through the gates of the presidential palace on April 30 & South Vietnam surrendered fully to the communists.
