Israel’s Water Authority published a report on Monday showing that the Jewish State is undergoing one of the worst droughts in modern history, with little precipitation in the country since the large snowstorm in early December. While there is still hope that more rain could fall before the summer, the rainy season ended prematurely in 2012-13. Water Authority officials hastened to add that desalinization and water recycling programs guaranteed the supply of safe water for Israeli households, but the agricultural sector is suffering and surrounding countries who don’t have Israel’s infrastructure advantages are in serious trouble. In related news, a World Bank report released this week shows a severe economic downturn among Israel’s neighbors due to political upheaval and wars in recent years.Read MoreIsrael drought
