Iran Threatens To Send Naval Ships Near U.S. Borders

Afshin Rezayee Haddad’s told reporters on Saturday that “Iran’s military fleet is approaching the United States’ maritime borders, and this move has a message.” The maneuvers, which Haddad said was meant to counter the presence of America’s 5th Fleet in the Persian Gulf, supposedly include the movement of two Iranian warships, both over thirty years old, around the South African coast and into the southern Atlantic. However, a US official asked about the “threat” by Reuters responded by saying that the ships have not been observed to be anywhere near the US while various analysts assessed that they would not be considered a serious threat to US National Security if they did turn out to actually be sailing in the Atlantic. Meanwhile, Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave another firebrand interview with Iranian media declaring that “our [hostile] stance toward the United States is due to its controlling and meddlesome attitude.” Read More
