Ralph Kiner was known as one of baseball’s genuine and most charming gentlemen to ever play the game. Kiner was born in Santa Rita, New Mexico, and raised in Alhambra, California. He was of Pennsylvania Dutch and Scots-Irishancestry. Kiner served as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II.He passed away at age 91 yesterday.
