A Change.orgpetition requested YouTube remove the video on the grounds it “promotes blasphemy” and used the name of God in “an irrelevant and distasteful manner.” The YouTube video still features someone being turned into sand, but the pendant in question has been removed. The Muslim who created the petition says “our voice has been heard” and he’s thrilled by Perry’s record label to change the video. The Charge.org petition says the video for “Dark Horse” is “highly controversial” because it shows a man and a pendant with the word “Allah” on it “being burned.” The petition also claims Perry is representing opposition to God in the video and promotes blasphemy. Around 40-thousand people have signed the petition. Perry hasn’t commented.
