I know He tries me only to increase my faith-J. Hudson Taylor
One of the frustrating things in life is that we always don’t know why God allows problems. I am facing challenges just like you probably are today. Some are facing severe illness, jobless, stress at work, depression, a sick loved one, etc. We do know that He intends to use them to heighten our maturity and deepen our faith.
Trials and troubles are dumbbells and treadmills for the soul.
Faith has a cumulative quality to it. We amass and garner it. We grow it and lay it in store for future times. Our faith should grow stronger through the seasons of life. I pray that yours does, sometimes it is tough.
Fully Rely On God.
In Luke 1 when Mary was visited by her relative Elizabeth, the latter cried out, “Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” verse 45. What a great definition! Faith is believing that what the Lord has said to us will be accomplished. You see God’s Word speaks to us everyday through the Holy Spirit and the Bible.
In Romans 4, Paul wrote that Abraham “was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised” verses 20-21 That’s a similar definition : being fully persuaded that God has the power to do what He has promised.
Did you know there are around 3,500 promises from God in the Bible?
In the violent storm in Acts 27, Paul shouted over the tempest, “last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me and said, “Do not be afraid. Paul, You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.” So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me” Verses 23-25
There we have another definition of biblical faith: believing that things will happen just as He told us.
You, like me have your own testimony how your faith in God has pulled you through so many trials! I encourage you to share them with the world, to help encourage others in their faith in Jesus Christ. You will also find that by speaking of your faith, it will also encourage you!
