WW2 resistanceDuring WWII various “resistance movements” sprang up inside those countries being forcibly occupied by the Nazis. The “underground” was another title given to these organizations. These groups sought to undermine and subvert the plans and policies of the Axis powers (principally Germany), and engaged in various efforts to overcome the enemy.  Some provided humanitarian relief to those stricken and injured by the war, while others helped fleeing refugees escape to a safe country. In some cases, a few resistance organizations carried out armed attacks against the enemy.  All of these organizations were critical to the Allied war effort, as they often provided “intelligence” concerning troop movements and locations of the enemy.

While most of us reading this article were not involved in fighting WWII, we are nonetheless engaged in a great battle – greater than any fight between nations – but one in which the whole world is engaged in the saving of every man, woman, boy and girl who has the hope for living a full and fruitful life in the future . Our enemy is not a government or nationality – for we are in a spiritual battle for the life and soul of humanity.  Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)  “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Americans know how to win military battles and how to conduct counter-intelligence against our enemies.  But we seem to have forgotten how to win the spiritual battles demoralizing our nation and engaging the whole world.  The apostle Paul gave us the answer – it’s part of our spiritual armor:  Praying in the Spirit!   Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)  “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

As we pray in the Spirit and intercede for “all the saints” – for all our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being attacked on all fronts – we will see the victory and undermine the efforts of our common enemy.  And as we pray for others by praying in the Spirit, we will also build ourselves up in our faith – becoming overcomers in the Lord.  Jude encouraged those in the early church who were being deceived and persuaded by false teachings:  Jude 1:20 (NKJV)  “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”

PRAY  –  PRAY  –  PRAY    It is our secret weapon!
