(Albuquerque, NM) — A Muslim woman is suing Planet Fitness for tossing her out because she was wearing a head scarf. Tarainia McDaniel says staff at a Planet Fitness in Albuquerque asked her to leave because her scarf violated the gym’s dress code. McDaniel says she told the staff she was wearing the scarf for religious reasons. She says she suggested going home and changing into a traditional head covering worn by many Muslim women, but the staff told her that wasn’t acceptable. The incident took place back in October of 2011.
