US President Barack Obama made another attempt to go over the heads of Iran’s leaders and speak directly to the Islamic Republic’s citizens on Thursday, releasing a youtube video for the Iranian holiday of Nowruz in which he implores Iranians to send a message to their leaders that it would be better to cooperate with the world’s nuclear powers instead of confronting them. “I’m under no illusions,” Obama insisted. “This will be difficult. But I’m committed to diplomacy because I believe there is the basis for a practical solution.” The video comes as after the second day of talks in Vienna between Iran and the P5+1 nuclear powers (US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) which, like previous rounds, produced no tangible results in halting the Islamic Republic’s drive to acquire nuclear weapons.
