(Undated) — Some Western Christians are marking the start of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Pope Francis is scheduled to lead this first Mass in the Vatican this evening as part of the ceremony. Other denominations around the world, including Episcopalians, Lutherans, Presbyterians and the Church of Christ are marking the day as well, with fasting and prayer. Most non-denominational and Baptist churches do not celebrate Lent, but do mark the start of Advent leading up to Easter.
