(Nashville, TN) — Tennessee must recognize legal same-sex marriages from other states. A federal judge’s ruling Friday echoes a similar decision made in neighboring Kentucky. The judge granted three couples a preliminary injunction that requires Tennessee to recognize their marriages pending a final decision of the state’s ban on same-sex unions. Federal judges have recently struck down gay marriage bans in several states, including Texas and Utah. Those rulings have been put on held pending appeals, which could eventually wind up in the U.S. Supreme Court.
