BREAKING NEWS: Helicopter Crashes On UNM Hospital Roof

Breaking News: This story was last updated at 6:35am: The Albuquerque Journal reports the pilot was injured but not badly and is listed in stable condition at UNMH. :  A medical helicopter has crashed on top of the UNM Hospital in Albuquerque. It happenedbreaking news 3 just before 6pm. The 6th floor is being evacuated. It was taking off, 3 people aboard, they are reported to be okay. The helicopter crashed onto the roof after trying to take off, crashed and rolled onto it’s side. The floor below the where helicopters land, the 6th floor, is being evacuated. More details coming. FGGAM is monitoring this story for you. Many Fire, Rescue and Law Enforcement Vehicles/officials on scene. Do not attempt to drive near this emergency. UNM Hospital is the only trauma center in the state of New Mexico, this is a critical situation. From the ground you can see the crashed helicopters tail sticking out over the roof . We thank the Lord for the reports of the safety of the Pilot and the two passengers aboard. Once again the copter was taking off to answer an emergency call some where in the state. No other details are available at this time as to where they were called to and who covered the call.  Lomas is closed at Yale.
UNM Hospital is  closed now except for Level 1 category trauma patients. We will keep you posted.
