Dear family of our Lord Jesus Christ,
We pray that God Blesses you and yours forever and ever! Amen!
From Chuck Swindoll’s book, ‘David’: “It’s as if God says, “I don’t care about all the slick public image business. Show me a person who has the character, and I’ll give him all the image he needs. I don’t require some certain temperament, I don’t care if he has a lot of charisma, I don’t care about size, I don’t care about an impressive track record. I care about character! First, is the person deeply authentic in his or her spiritual walk or is he faking it? And second, is he or she a servant?”
There is way too much ‘slick public image’ going on in this world we live in, and also in the Church.
So today on Facebook, Shari Hardway Johnson, The Jesus Chick, who posts here at FGGAM,we love her so much! Anyhow, she posts on Facebook that it is ‘National Cherish an Antique Day’…..and say’s “there are so many people I could tag on this post” LOL! I am thankful that Shari ‘Cherish’s’ this antique called Dewey! LOL LOL! It made my day…as I do feel like an ‘antique’ in this world……an old ‘fuddy duddy’ to be more like it!
Thanks for making me laugh today Shari……….It’s great to laugh at one’s self.
As I work everyday of my life in ministry for God’s Glory Alone….I feel more and more,’not of this world’ we are taught that, Amen! So today Shari’s post remided me of that…..and as we prepare for Resurrection Sunday………this scripture……
Jesus Before Pilate John 18: 35-37
…35Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?” 36Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.” 37Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”…
Let me go back to Chuck Swndoll’s book on ‘David’
I am stuck in Chapter 1! I find at times I get stuck on one chapter for days and weeks and have to absorb it, reabsorb it………and more and more! I’ts like a bottomless CUP!!!! LOL!!! Just like the BIBLE!!!!
My comments appear in (Dewey’s comments)………….
Swindoll writes….The first quality God saw in David was spirituality. “The Lord has sought out……a man after His own heart.”( I remember when I was first told that…that I was after God’s heart…..I wept with joy! I am still after God’s heart..everyday! Amen!) What does it mean to be a person after God’s own heart? Seems to me, it means that you are a person whose life is in harmony with the Lord. What is important to Him is important to you. What burdens Him burdens you. (I’m telling you folks, that not enough folks are burden with what burdens God!) When God says, “Go to the right,” you go to the right. When He says, “Stop that in your life,” you stop it. (He did that to me at KKIM and then sent me to FGGAM, and He did it to me in softball, a game I adore, He said STOP, I stopped.) When He says, “this is wrong and I want you to change,” you come to terms with it because you have a heart for God. (This is where so many struggle) That’s bottom line Biblical Christianity.
When you are deeply spiritual, you have a heart that is sensitive to the things of God. A parallel verse in 2 Chronicles confirms this:
For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9
