Pennsylvania Governor Will Not Appeal Gay Marriage Ruling

(Harrisburg, PA) — Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett won’t appeal Tuesday’s ruling by a federal judge that struck down the state’s gay marriage ban. The Republican governor says he made the decision because the case is extremely unlikely to succeed on appeal. Corbett added that as a Roman Catholic, he continues to “maintain the belief that marriage is between one man and one woman.” Same-sex couples began getting marriage licenses as soon as yesterday’s ruling came down, but state law mandates a three-day waiting period to marry.
