(London, England) — The UN’s climate chief wants religious organizations to get rid of their investments in fossil fuel companies. Christiana Figueres wrote in “The Guardian” that saving the Earth from climate change is “a moral and ethical” issue, along with an economic, social and environmental one. She praised the United Church of Christ in the U.S. for divesting from fossil fuel companies, along with smaller churches in Australia and New Zealand. Figueres adds all faiths have a responsibility and an opportunity over the next 18 months to give world leaders a moral compass by getting out of fossil fuels.
