We do not rely on our own ability, we rely on God’s ability to work through us. We need to know WHO is able! We need to have faith in Jesus’ ability, and in God’s ability. If He asks us to do something, He also makes us able, through Him, to accomplish it.
Exodus 18:23 If you do this thing and God so commands you, then you WILL BE ABLE to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.
Daniel 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve IS ABLE to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
Matthew 9:28 When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I AM ABLE to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
Mark 8:4 And His disciples answered Him, ‘Where will anyone BE ABLE to find enough bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”
If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, then there is someone who is able to destroy both your body and soul, in hell. Is this true? It is in the Word of God. Let’s see what Jesus said about this:
Matthew 10:28 Do not fear those who kill the body but are UNABLE to kill the soul; but rather fear him who IS ABLE to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Let’s look at some promises directly from Scripture:
NO ONE CAN TAKE US OUT OF GOD’S HAND.
John 10:29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and NO ONE IS ABLE to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
BUILDS US UP AND GIVES US AN INHERITANCE.
Acts 20:30 And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which IS ABLE to build you up and to give you he inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
NOTHING WILL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD.
Romans 8:39 nor height, nor depth, NOR ANY OTHER CREATED THING WILL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
THE LORD WILL MAKE US STAND.
Romans 14:4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord IS ABLE to make him stand.
GOD ESTABLISHES US.
Romans 16:25 Now to Him who IS ABLE to establish you according to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ.
WE ARE ABLE TO ENDURE TEMPTATION.
1Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will BE ABLE to endure it.
GOD COMFORTS US, WE COMFORT OTHERS.
2Corinthians 1:4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will BE ABLE to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
WE HAVE SUFFICIENCY IN HIS GRACE FOR EVERY GOOD DEED.
2Corinthians 9:8 And God IS ABLE to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.
GOD CAN DO MORE THAN WHAT WE ASK OR THINK.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who IS ABLE to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.
Sometimes the Word of God shows us that there are conditions for us to acquire the ability to do something required or necessary… let’s look at these verses:
GOD PROVIDES WHAT WE NEED TO STAND AGAINST THE DEVIL.
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that YOU WILL BE ABLE to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
GOD PROVIDES WHAT WE NEED FOR US TO RESIST AND STAND FIRM.
Ephesians 6:13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that YOU WILL BE ABLE to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
GOD PROVIDES WHAT WE NEED TO EXTINGUISH FLAMING ARROWS.
Ephesians 6:16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which YOU WILL BE ABLE to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
WE ARE ABLE TO EXHORT IN SOUND DOCTRINE.
Titus 1:9 holding fast the faithful Word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he WILL BE ABLE both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.
Jesus suffered on this earth, just as we do now. And He prays for us continuously. How do we know? Let’s look at these verses:
JESUS COMES TO OUR AID IN TEMPTATION.
Hebrews 2:18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He IS ABLE to come to the aid of those who are tempted.
WE ARE SAVED FOREVER BECAUSE WE DRAW TO GOD THROUGH JESUS.
Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He IS ABLE to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Jesus is the living Word of God. We need to “receive the Word implanted” … know your Word of God, study the Bible, which is Truth. Jesus said we are sanctified by the Truth, and God’s Word is Truth.
WE ARE SAVED THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD.
James 1:21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the Word implanted, which IS ABLE to save your souls.
JESUS KEEPS US FROM STUMBLING AND MAKES US STAND BEFORE GOD BLAMELESS AND WITH GREAT JOY.
Jude 1:24 Now to Him who IS ABLE to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His Glory blameless with great joy.
