Israeli-Arab Sentenced For Fighting In Syria

Middle East political map (Illustrative)Hoosam Hagla, an Arab citizen of Israel, was sentenced on Thursday to 19 months in prison for fighting with rebel factions in Syria against the regime of President Bashar Assad. It was the latest incident highlighting the danger to Israel from the ongoing battles in Syria which have already spread to neighboring Iraq and Lebanon and threaten Jordan. Meanwhile, US Special Forces advisors arrived in Baghdad this week and established a joint operations center to coordinate with forces loyal to the Baghdad regime in its battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terror militia. Iran has already sent hundreds of its own commandos to rally the regime’s forces, as well as deploying drones and sending military equipment and weapons to arm and advisers to train Shi’ite militias fighting ISIL.
