John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, desert, preaching a baptism repentance, a change of one’s mind for the better, heartily amending one’s ways, with abhorrence of his past sins in order to obtain forgiveness of and release from sins. Some sad news… one of my favorite actors and television icons passed away this morning.
Report: America’s sheriff Andy Griffith dead at 86
Andy Griffith on “The Andy Griffith Show” in the 1960s.
By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper
Actor Andy Griffith, who won the hearts of 1960s TV viewers with his role as gentle Sheriff Andy Taylor in “The Andy Griffith Show,” then returned as a 1980s country lawyer in “Matlock,” died Tuesday at 86, according to WITN-TV.
The news was reported to the North Carolina television station by Bill Friday, former president of the University of North Carolina and a Griffith friend. Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie had confirmed to WITN earlier that am ambulance was sent to Griffith’s home.
Griffith began his entertainment career with comic monologues and moved into movies, debuting in 1957’s “A Face in the Crowd” with Patricia Neal. But it was as the widower sheriff Andy Taylor on “The Andy Griffith Show” that he really made his mark. The show, which also starred a young Ron Howard as Griffith’s son Opie, and comedian Don Knotts as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife, ran from 1960-1968. Its setting, in the fictional small-town of Mayberry, became almost as famous as any one episode.
Griffith returned to TV stardom in 1986 as Ben Matlock, a Southern lawyer. That show ran until 1995 and was seized upon by comedians as a punchline for its popularity with older Americans. In one “Simpsons” episode, a highway is renamed the Matlock Expressway so a town mayor can win the elderly vote.
Griffith is survived by wife Cindi and his daughter Dixie. Son Andrew Jr., known as Sam, died in 1996.
We will miss you Andy!
From Dewey’s Mail Bag-
Rev. 2:13 I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is.
As you bring the news faithfully of our state, nation, and world, it can be very depressing. But please remember and remind God’s people that God is aware of it all, calls us to be faithful to Him, and He will take care of us in His perfect way! Thank you Dewey, and thank God for you! Martha
Happy birthday Dewey !!!! And God Bless you !! Keep the good news that Jesus saves alive !! The words flow from you like a waterfall ! So uplifting and refreshing ! :) Trudy
Dewey, I recently heard that part of the Aaronic blessing is specifically about the favor of the Lord. It’s the part in Numbers 6:26 – “The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” I can’t remember where I heard this but was excited about it because my wife, kids and I pray the Aaronic blessing every morning and at bedtime. It’s comforting to know God’s blessing also includes His much needed favor.
Victor
Thanks to Martha, Trudy and Victor for their messages!
Here’s what Darlene shares with us today………..
Finding Gods Favor in an Unfavorable World
What does it mean to have God’s favor? We all know that God loves us because God is love. But does this also mean that we automatically have favor with God? You may have heard that God is no respecter of persons which means everyone starts out on the same level playing field with God. But does this also mean God will answer prayers from everyone equally? Sometimes you hear of people who receive answers to their prayers almost instantly while others pray and don’t receive answers at all. If God is no respecter of persons why would some receive God’s favor, while others do not? The scriptures seem to answer this question. God requires us to have an attitude of faith and expectancy. Not just a faith that we believe in God, but a faith that no matter what we are facing, we just know God will be there to handle it if we are willing to hand it over to him. God also wants us to have a relationship with him and be obedient to him. Along with obedience, he requires we live righteously which means that we are not deliberately sinning in our lives. As humans we will commit sins and as Christians we will feel convicted if we do not repent. However if we choose not to repent and continue sinning we are blocking our chances of finding God’s favor.
Moses is a good example of someone who had gained God’s favor. Not only that, but he was like a close friend to God. Moses was really an Israelite baby who grew up as a royal prince in Egypt. He could have ignored his roots and had all the wealth, power and favor of a royal family. But Moses couldn’t turn his back on the Israelites, feeling connected to them because they were his family. So after killing an Egyptian soldier he fled all the wealth and power to follow God. This pleased God because Moses had chosen to walk in faith and have a close, obedient relationship with him.
God expects us to have a relationship with him too. I know you are probably thinking ‘I go to church and say my prayers at night’. But that is not enough. We are created in God’s image which means that God feels things like we do. He is not some robotic power that takes in requests and spits out results. Let me ask you a question. If you knew a kid who only spoke to you outside of school and in the company of their parents and yours, but never acknowledged you in school- how would that make you feel? What if they asked you to do them some favors? Would you be inclined to do them favors or would you feel hurt that you were only spoken to because their parents required it of them. Well, it’s the same with God. He lives in you (hopefully) which means he knows your heart and who and what is important to you. If you only talk to god (pray) when it is required of you or when you happen to have a spare moment to think about it, then you do not have a relationship with him. He is inclined to answer prayers and grant requests for those he has a close relationship with. But how do you have a close relationship with God, the almighty creator of all things? Well, it’s not as hard as you may think. You probably already have close relationships with some friends. You probably spend lots of time with them talking, laughing and sharing your dreams or fears. Maybe you run to them in times of sadness or happiness so you can be consoled or have someone to share your joy with. Well it’s not much different with God. He also wants to be the one you talk to, share your dreams with and run to in times of sadness and happiness. This is called relationship and it’s the same with your friends as it is with God. We need to be in a state of prayer all our lives. Not that we need to be saying a formal prayer, but just talking to him all the time. However so many of us put God up on a ‘shelf’ and don’t go to him unless it’s a tragedy or some colossal event in our lives. God wants to be there for that but, since he loves us so much, he also wants to be there for the not so major events in your life. If you continue having trouble with a relationship with God and feel separated from God, please see the page called “Steps to Salvation” to remove that feeling of separation. Because God cannot hear those requests from those who are separated from him.
God wants to answer our requests if they are declared in faith without any unbelief or uncertainty. Trusting God is a form of obedience. You see God likes to reward us when we come to him like little children just trusting that he will take care of things(Romans 8:28). However there is one way we can be sure he won’t listen to our prayers. That is when we whine and complain about our problems to him. When we do that it’s like he sticks his fingers in his ears singing la,la,la and cannot even hear our requests.
We also have to live righteously. All this means is choosing to act obediently and purely. James 5:16 says the earnest heartfelt prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available. God expects us to abide in him which means that we are obeying his will and direction in our lives. When we abide in him then we can ask whatever we wish and it will be done. That’s pretty powerful isn’t it? But how do we know if we are obeying his word and not sinning. Well it’s easier than you may think. Have you ever done something and felt a heaviness or tightness in your chest. That is God telling us that we are sinning. Sometimes we are not actively sinning but we are not being obedient to what God has asked us to do. 1 John 3:20:22 says that we have to listen to our hearts and if our hearts do not accuse us(or make us feel guilty) then we can have complete confidence before God. And since we are obeying him and his commandments then we will receive what we are asking for. Finally, we need to specifically ask for what we want. Why would God require us to specifically request something? Doesn’t he already know our hearts and what we need? So why do we have to give a detailed prayer account to the all knowing creator of all things? Well I’m glad you asked. You see God wants to make sure that when we do receive our prayer request that we know it was really from him and not some coincidence. When we receive an answer to a specific prayer request God wants the glory and praise for providing what we asked for. We all want to receive thanks or acknowledgement for what we have done. So does God. It’s really important that we keep a heart of thanksgiving and gratitude when he has granted our request.
If we make a decision to expect less of God than what he is capable of giving us, then we get what we ask for. But if we make a decision each day to be bold and with confidence say “I’ve got the favor of God” and its causing me to be chosen for teams or special projects. I have favor to do well at school or work and even for unexpected opportunities to come my way. Just keep believing, keep praying and releasing your faith and keep declaring that you have God’s favor and you will!

Now Esther was winning favor in the eyes of all who saw her. And when Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus, into his royal palace, in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign, the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she won grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. Then the king gave a great feast for all his officials and servants; it was Esther’s feast. He also granted a remission of taxes to the provinces and gave gifts with royal generosity.

Okay my friends, get ready to BLAST OFF!!! This is a most POWEFUL message from Monica Miller-Ruhl. I found this in my in-box last night and then I could not fall asleep!!!!!!!! It charged me up so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dewey,
Monica’s latest teaching. Thought it might be something you to share on the Cup.
Blessings,Pastor Bill Ruhl…….
“Behold, we go up to Jerusalem.” (Luke 18)
Jerusalem stands in the life of Our Lord as the place where He reached the climax of His Father’s will. “I seek not Mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent Me.” That was the one dominating interest all through our Lord’s life, and the things He met with on the way, joy or sorrow, success or failure, never deterred him from His purpose. “he steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.”
The great thing to remember is that we go up to Jerusalem to fulfill God’s purpose, not our own. Naturally, our ambitions are our own; (but) in the Christian life we have no aim of our own. There is so much said to-day about our decisions for Christ, our determination to be Christians, our decisions for this and that, but in the New Testament it is the aspect of God’s compelling that is brought out (of you). -Oswald Chambers
It is always “life” to give up our will for the will of the Father, that is what going up to Jerusalem is!
His will is “kingly” and lives in the domain of radiant pure Wisdom–an exquisite beauty of fragrances that are unearthly and exceedingly heavenly in the glories of His divine nature. You might say…God is a pure living Stone defined in one word: MAJESTIC! Unrelenting, His Wisdom speaks Truth in Agape compelling us to go up to Jerusalem.
Like a fountain of eloquent grace radiant and majestic, YHWH seeks to quiet the soul in His holy repose (state of being at rest).
We are called and destined to such a high place in Christ that exceeds our earthly minds and therefore cannot be found in the natural mind-state as even found out by Nicodemus. This call requires the developed virtues of “humility” and “meekness” as we ascend in the profound abode of His unfeigned (genuine) love that He would acquire (gain possession) in us the true “sonship” treasure.
When we are emptied of “self” in every way, we become a habitation for His kingly rule (government) in which His holiness invades our being. And as Paul stated: it is no longer I who live [that
being the self-life of Paul] but that Christ in Paul lived through Paul [that being the “nature” and “ability” of Christ reigning in Paul’s
life]. (see Gal. 2:20)
We can have life in Christ or greater than this, Christ’s life (His nature and ability) expressed from within us having arrived at “self” being fully emptied (or crucified) of all old nature issues. This is the completed process of the exchanged life in which Christ now lives His life through the obedient undeterred believer. The self-life is denied over and over and the new creation man is fully developed by the “processes” of the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit who is assigned to align us in “all things” with the Father’s perfect will. Our only existence in this completed state is the existence of God living in us having become fully owned and fully occupied by Him. Here He is completely enthroned in all areas of our souls with the grace of His repose. (suggested reading: Thrones Of Our Souls by Paul Keith Davis).
If we accept His invitation and embrace the work of His grace, we will be completely transformed into the image of Christ. This is the living cocoon of our Salvation designed specifically to achieve this noble purpose. *(Vision shared on Sunday about the cocoon of our Salvation). We are not saved to have a life of our own although many will leave off there. We are saved and invited into a place in God of which Christ Himself walked with the Father “as One”. THIS IS THE SANCTUARY OF UNION–Our full inheritance of the life of Christ living through the steadfast yielded believer who is ever penetrably seeking to know Him in all things (circumstances).
·
Heidi Baker called this place the place of “laid down lovers”, a selfless life.
·
Graham Cooke calls it “the life of upgrades”.
·
The Apostle Paul called it “the obedient crucified life”.
·
Jesus calls it “the exchanged life”.
·
Watchman Nee defines that the “outer man” must be broken in order to release the true Spiritual life.
·
300 hundred years have passed since Madame Guyon captured and wrote this trust worthy essence for which she too, like Watchman Nee, was imprisoned and claimed as “the woman who loved Christ too much”. Yet her writings passed through spiritual giants like John Wesley, Watchman Nee, Hudson Taylor, the early Quakers, Jessie Penn-Lewis, Fenelon, and countless others. Madame Guyon shares the following significant spiritual insights. By giving up “self” to the destroying and annihilating power of divine love, the soul ascends to God. This state of sacrifice in which the soul allows “self” to be destroyed and annihilated so that it may submit itself to the sovereignty of God is essential to [true] Christianity……….. By the destruction of “self” we acknowledge the supreme existence of God. We must cease to exist in “self” in order that the Spirit of the Eternal Word may exist in us. It is by giving up our own life, that we give place to His coming. And [it is] in dying to ourselves, that He lives in us.
We must surrender our “whole being” to Christ Jesus, and cease to live any longer in ourselves so that He may become our life: “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). “Pass ye into Me,” sayeth God, “all ye who earnestly seek after Me.” But how do we pass into God? The only way is by leaving and forsaking ourselves so that we may be lost in Him. This can be brought about only by annihilation, which is true prayer of adoration, and which renders unto God alone all “blessing, and honor, and glory, and power…forever and ever.”
This prayer of truth is that which “worship[s] the Father in spirit and in truth.” “In spirit” because we are drawn away from our own carnal and human methods. “In truth,” because we enter into the truth of the all of God, and the nothing of us.
There are but these two truths, the all and the nothing–everything else is false. We can pay due honor to the “all of God”, only in [our own nothingness], our own “annihilation”. The instant this is accomplished, God who never allows a void in nature, instantly fills us with Himself.
The “fruit” just squeezed out and sampled from these lives I’ve just shared, as well as many other contemporaries not mentioned yet equally worthy, has become timeless nourishment that must not vanish from within our hearts because its centrality is in the “seed” of the Tree of Life.
Our life is composed of sands of time in which we are offered to know this lofty place in God while we are yet here on earth. There is no rewind button, only the opportunity now to diligently seek Him while He may be found. Our destiny is calling us to ultimately tabernacle with God. We need only to obey Him at “all cost” and He will make the exchange (trans-formation) complete from the glorious wonders in the “cocoon of our Salvation”.
How do we love God? He gave His life up for us. Will we completely give our entire life up for Him? How much of us does God truly own? What He does not yet have……is our assignment to overcome! We must go up to Jerusalem–it is His compelling.
The “life of self” must be totally annihilated in order for the life of Christ to totally reign in us. Every trial and test is designed by God to bring an end to the life of our “old nature”. These tests and trials are the “messengers of God” serving eviction notice where the thrones of our soul are choosing to still rule (desiring it’s own way and own justice; self, in control). Pride must ultimately be dethroned–it is God’s compelling! And that in this, for us, He might gain the rule and reign from within–enthroned completely in the “all” of our soul.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth! (Matt. 5:5)
Could it be that our Lord’s glorious words spoken from the mountain to His “disciples” two thousand years ago, are in fact the hidden virtues calling us into sonship today?

Thank you. Your gifts to feeding hungry children have been a great blessing. See below for Photo of the Day – a very happy child with a cup of hot, nourishing soup on a rainy day.
July 3, 2012. Don’t lose your grip on love and loyalty. In so doing, you will find yourself living well in My eyes and in the eyes of the people. You are earning a reputation of living above and beyond the ordinary. My hand of grace brought you into My Kingdom and it will sustain you through eternity. By grace you have been blessed and not that of yourself alone. I love to hear you tell people about how I have, not only blessed you, but have brought you from scarcity to abundance. You always praise Me as your source, taking care never to boast in what you have achieved or possess. These are good character qualities for you to pass on to others. Allow them to see the real Jesus in you.
Proverbs 3:3-4 (MSG) “Don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Earn a reputation for living well in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people.” Ras Robinson

July 3, 2012. You are walking in the blessings of living faith. I watch you keeping your thoughts captive and pure by trusting Me, and pushing away from doubt and unbelief. I have made you for faith and have given you examples over and over in Scripture. You also have examples of victories in your own life. I designed you for faith. That is the way you started with Me. You turned your heart and life totally believing Me and my word. You understood almost nothing of Me and My ways and yet took the plunge. Keep on walking as you mature, but never lose your child-likeness. Fully trust in Me.
Colossians 2:6-7 (NASB) “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” Bev Robinson

July 3, 2012. Seize the day. Take advantage of every opportunity Holy Spirit provides to build up, cheer up, and stir up one another to love and good deeds. As followers of Jesus Christ, recognize and cheer on fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Open your mouth and speak encouraging words of peace, love and joy to one another. We are all on the same team. Speak positively. Boost each others confidence with truth of who and whose they are. Identify and pinpoint godly characteristics and qualities within each other. Don’t withhold good from whom good is due. Assure others of My God given qualities which I have placed within them. Seize the moment.
Hebrews 3:13 (NASB) “But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Kevin Robinson

The Incredible Edible Egg!
A new study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition supports consuming eggs in moderation after finding no evidence that eggs increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
The researchers studied the association between egg consumption and cardiovascular disease in 21,327 participants from the Physicians’ Health Study. The end result of the study found that egg consumption was not associated with incident heart attack or stroke. Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition Vol. 87, No. 4, 964-969, April 2008.
I’ve been an avid supporter of the incredible edible egg. But, eating the right type of egg is important. Organic, free range eggs should be the egg of choice. Standard commercial eggs come from hens that are cooped up in boxes and fed chemically sprayed grains. This changes the chemical composition of the egg. One of the greatest misconceptions in the health industry is that eating foods with high cholesterol will increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The liver is responsible for approximately 90-95% of your daily cholesterol production.
Eating cholesterol foods do not have as great an impact on cholesterol as promoted. An egg contains about 210 mg of cholesterol. Dietary causes of increased cholesterol are the over consumption of processed meats, grains, and sugars. Additionally these foods have all been shown to stimulate an immune response in the body. Interestingly enough, these immune responses are lessened by the formation of cholesterol. That being said, cholesterol is increased during times of immune distress to help the body not to hurt it.
Think about that last sentence for a minute. If elevated cholesterol helps the immune system, does lowering cholesterol with medications create immune system dysfunction. A number of studies support this to be the case. Additionally, a number of studies have concluded that elevated cholesterol is not as great a risk factor for heart disease as is promoted. As a matter of fact, studies have proven that people with the lowest cholesterol have a higher mortality rate (die sooner)!
Below are some of the benefits of cholesterol
– Cholesterol helps the immune system to fight infections
– Cholesterol is a precursor to the hormones estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, and testosterone.
– Cholesterol allows brain cells to form synapses (bridges that help brain cells communicate with each other.)
