Hamas commander Mohammad Deif issued an emphatic statement on Tuesday that “There will be no ceasefire without [Israel’s] lifting of the siege. Victory will be ours.” He added that Hamas fighters facing the IDF in Gaza are “craving to die” as martyrs although he did not give any indication that he was personally in any hurry to die. Elsewhere, the IDF announced on Tuesday that it had broken up another attempt by Hamas commandos to infiltrate into Israel via attack tunnels and another large barrage of rockets were fired at several Israeli cities. The IDF responded with strikes on over 80 terrorist targets in the Strip, with fighting continuing into Wednesday morning. Several more attack tunnels have also been found and destroyed and large stockpiles of weapons have been confiscated, including yet another cache of rockets in a UN school in Gaza on Tuesday afternoon.
